Adult Education
Adult Education and a variety of other literacy programs help adults attain the basic skills they need to be more productive and successful workers. At St. Augustine College, we offer two major programs: General Educational Development (GED), and English as a Second Language (ESL).
High School Diploma Equivalency (GED)
We offer innovative, free, and intensive 10-week GED and HiSET preparation courses, in both English and Spanish, with a strong college and career readiness component.
- U.S. Constitution Testing
- Paid Practice Tests
- Support Services to ensure students can complete the program and earn their Illinois High School Equivalency Certificate
- A free college class. As an incentive to transition to college, participants who complete the program are offered a free college class at St. Augustine College
English as a Second Language (ESL)
We have a unique accelerated format that allows students to attend classes for 9 hours per week, completing one level every 11 weeks. Students who complete the advanced level are then eligible to enroll in SAC’s academic ESL courses and continue working toward a Certificate, Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree.
We incorporate a Listening-Speaking-Reading-Writing method to develop students’ English proficiency in work/life, academic and basic computer literacy skills.
