Focus on Diversity
Growing up in Chicago’s Belmont-Cragin neighborhood, Rosy Garcia always knew she wanted to help people. So, when she discovered that St. Augustine College (SAC) had a campus nearby where she could pursue an associate degree in the health and science field, it was a natural fit. “The school’s focus on diversity was also very important to me because it shows that they are more open and more accepting,” says Garcia, who graduated in 2020 and was named valedictorian of her department. “Professors are bilingual and they’re compassionate. They are also the most flexible teachers I’ve ever seen in my life—very willing to help you in anything they can.”
