College Admissions at St. Augustine — Open to GED Holders, Transfer Students, and Working Adults

General Admissions Requirements

As an open-admission institution with a focus on bilingual courses, we strive to make formal, college level education accessible for everyone. We require only the following:

  • Completion of high school or GED
  • A minimum age of seventeen (17) years
  • Official high school transcript (Distance high school must be accredited by a regional association*)
  • Official transcript of the General Education Development (GED) Test (Distance GED is not accepted)
  • Proof of completion of equivalent high school work in a foreign country, OR official college transcript showing at least 24 transferable semester credit hours

DEADLINES FOR APPLYING TO COLLEGE

St. Augustine College operates on a system of rolling admission. We will accept applications until the Saturday after the start date of each semester.

Starting from a GED? Here's How Admissions Works.

St. Augustine accepts GED holders into every associate’s degree program. The admissions process is exactly the same as it is for high school graduates. You just submit your official GED transcript along with the standard application materials. The college also uses rolling admissions, so there isn’t a single deadline that closes the door on you.

If you specifically finished your GED at St. Augustine, the transition is even simpler. Graduates get one free college course and can move right into a degree program without a separate admissions process because the programs are directly connected.

If you don’t have a GED yet but want one before applying, you can start with the free 10-week preparation course at St. Augustine. It runs online in both English and Spanish. Once you complete it and earn the Illinois High School Equivalency Certificate, you’ve officially met the requirement to get into any associate’s program.

For those planning further ahead, graduating with an associate’s degree from St. Augustine gives you a clear path to a bachelor’s degree through Lewis University. Academic advisors work with you from day one to make sure your credits apply toward the specific Lewis University program you want.

Transfer Friendly Higher Education in Chicago

If you would like to transfer to St. Augustine College at Lewis University, your work and credit towards a degree at another institution may be accepted, whether partially or in full, where applicable, and depending on the program.
