SAC at the 2018 Illinois LSAMP Symposium

On February 23rd & 24th, representatives of the St. Augustine College Respiratory Therapy program attended this important event. “2018 Spring Symposium in STEM” (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) was sponsored by the Illinois Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) program and the Center for STEM Education and Research (CSER).

The ILSAMP consists of nine universities, five regional community colleges, and one government laboratory. Dr. Bruno Bondavalli, interim president of SAC, is a member of the Illinois LSAMP Governing Board. The LSAMP was established in 1993 and is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF).  Is one of a number of consortia of colleges and universities in the United States and Puerto Rico with the goal of significantly increasing the number of undergraduate and graduate degrees awarded to underrepresented populations in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEAM).

Dr. German Criollo, professor of SAC’s Biology Department, is the partner coordinator representing our school.
