CHICAGO, IL., May
16th, 2011-After weeks of anticipation, Nuestro Queso's "Cocina, Saborea y Gana!" (Create,
Dazzle and Win) recipe contest came to a great conclusion when Jonatan Romero's
tastefully simple gourmet dish of cheese-filled chicken and herbs was declared
the 1st place winner.
The final cook-off was held on Monday, May 16th
at St. Augustine College's main campus and found four finalists, out of dozens
of entries submitted between March and May, preparing their best recipe to be sampled
by a panel of six distinguished judges. Nuestro Queso, the freshest and most authentic cheese
products available in the market, invited aspiring cooks to submit their best
recipe using a Nuestro Queso product and compete to win $2,000 (1st.
Place), $1,000 (2nd. Place) and $500 (3rd. Place) towards
tuition at St. Augustine College and a Nuestro Queso product basket with retail
value of approximately $250 (4th Place.)
"We were happily surprised by the interest the contest
generated", said Janet Dominguez, Marketing Director for Nuestro Queso. "There
are some outstanding cooks in our community and we are very happy to being able
to contribute to the educational aspirations of the finalists".
Adrian Romero (2nd. Place), Yadira Lara (3rd
Place), Victoria Martinez (4th Place) and Jonatan prepared their
recipes at an event held in the historic Charles Chaplin Auditorium in St.
Augustine's main campus in Chicago attended by many supporters, students and

Queso; Lucy Lucy, radio personality, La Que Buena 105.9 FM; Johanna Londono,
radio personality, La Mega 95.5 FM; Rafael Perez. Executive Chef, St. Augustine
College; and Alberto Plumacher, V.P. Production, Cheese Master, Nuestro Queso.
Recipes were judged on flavor, creativity, cultural connection, originality,
presentation, and cooking process.
