On May 20th, 22 participants graduated
from the first "Management and Green Practices for Small Businesses" program at
St. Augustine College. This program,
provided by the Institute of Workforce Education (IWE), a division of St.
Augustine College, trained participants in management, administration and green
practices for small businesses.
The graduates, owners and managers of
small businesses who are interested in developing their skills to grow their
companies and the local economy, received a completion certificate and a laptop
that will help them improve their accounting and administration operations for
their companies.
This program consists of 81 hours or 27 weeks of instruction
and was taught at St. Augustine College's West Campus, 3255 W. Armitage, in
Chicago.
Areas covered in this program included: business management;
finance, marketing, technology (introduction to computers, Word and Excel);
health and safety; ecological practices; and business plan development. The
training also engaged participants in interactive problem identification and
solving activities.
