The Administrative Assistant curriculum prepares you to enter the job market as a professional office employee in a variety of areas of the corporate world. The program has two concentrations: Office Technology and Office Assistant.
Office Technology:
This concentration prepares you to work in the office of the 21st century, where skills and knowledge of computers are essential. You will learn Microsoft Office Suite, desktop publishing, web design, database applications, business communications, interpersonal relations, and office procedures.
Office Assistant:
This concentration prepares you for the more traditional role of an Administrative Assistant. You will learn PowerPoint, Microsoft Word and Excel, business communications, office procedures, business principles, and basic accounting skills.
This degree can lead you to become certified as a Microsoft Certified Application Specialist, which is frequently required in today's job market. Students who successfully complete the program can enter the workforce in many positions, such as: Executive Assistant, Legal Administrative Assistant, Medical Administrative Assistant, Data Entry Specialist, and Accounts Payable/Receivable Assistant.
