Whatever your interest and passion, we have various ways to make a gift to St. Augustine College. Whether it’s a one time or recurring gift, or one that will continue to make an impact for years to come, each offers specific benefits and ways to meet your needs and achieve the desired results. Please note that St. Augustine College is a 501(c)(3) organization. Your contribution is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
One of the most impactful forms of support is through unrestricted giving. When a donor chooses this way of giving, it is not specified how the gift may be used. Such gifts allow the College to use the funds where it deems appropriate (in most cases where the needs are greatest. The funds can be used for costs related to operations, student support/faculty support, scholarships and financial aid, technological needs, etc.
Matching Scholarship Fund Program
We invite you to participate in our “Matching Scholarship Fund Program”. When you establish a scholarship fund to benefit new or continuing students at our institution, St. Augustine College will match your (or your company or organization’s) contribution. For example, if you contribute $2,500, St. Augustine will contribute $2,500, which creates a $5,000 scholarship fund. Scholarships are awarded in your name, and can be generally given to students in financial need or can be donor advised.
Yo Creo/I Believe Society
A college degree is becoming a more important factor to achieve success in life. Unfortunately many Hispanics who go to college are unable to finish due to financial limitations. In many cases, the lack of only $250 or $500 makes the difference between dropping out and graduating with a degree.
For this reason, St. Augustine College has established the Yo Creo / I Believe Society. Members provide one or more $250 scholarships for students in financial need. A Yo Creo scholarship gift will provide crucial help to a student seeking to cross the bridge to a bright and prosperous future.
At, St. Augustine, we hold various events throughout the year geared to promote community, student, alumni and donor involvement, and to raise funds that benefit our students. By supporting these events, you help to increase St. Augustine’s capacity to provide scholarships to students in financial need, while enhancing you and your company/organization’s commitment to education and our community. Sponsorships can be tailored to optimize promotion and marketing opportunities. Our events include:
El Puente Awards Gala
This is our signature event, which takes place in April, at the magnificent Aragon Ballroom, located in the Uptown area, just north of downtown Chicago. The funds raised by the El Puente Awards Gala go to scholarships for students in financial need. At this event, we recognize individuals and entities in the private and public sectors that have a demonstrated commitment to support the advancement of our communities through education
SAC’s Annual Golf Outing
St. Augustine College holds its annual “Raising Dollars for Scholars” Golf Outing at Gleneagles Country Club, in Lemont, Illinois. This year’s event will take place on September 16, 2016. Join us for 18 holes of golf, prizes, reception with great food, and complementary golf lessons for participants. The funds raised go to scholarships for students in financial need.
Another way to support St. Augustine College’s mission to serve as a bridge to a better future to many members of society who may not have another option to attain a college education, is through planned giving. A planned gift is a way to show the deepest commitment to St. Augustine and the people we serve and to build a Legacy of Giving. This type of gift allows you to make a bigger contribution than you may be able to make at this time, while benefitting from tax and other benefits. Planned, of deferred gifts, may include, bequests through your will or life insurance, gift annuities, charitable trusts, retained life estates and other ways.
Gifts of Securities and Property
These gifts can fit a specific financial strategy that includes giving. They include securities, such as stocks and bonds and they can be made easily and efficiently. You can also provide gifts that include real estate, life insurance and personal property. There may also be additional tax benefits from this type of giving.
Gifts to Create an Endowment
One of the most powerful and long lasting ways to give is through an endowment. Through this gift, the principal is preserved in perpetuity. Endowments can be set up to assist students with scholarships, to support specific programs/departments/groups or as an unrestricted gift.
A gift can be made in honor or in memory of an individual/entity or to mark a special occasion. For more information, contact St. Augustine’s Development Department.
Many employers match donations made by their employees, which can double or triple the donation made. If this applies to you, please contact St. Augustine’s Development Department.
