Empowering communities through social justice

St. Augustine College prides itself in offering an outstanding Bachelor of Social Work Program that is nationally accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).

Our Social Work Program is a community of dedicated faculty, motivated students, and inspiring alumni. The program prepares students to promote and support positive change for individuals, families, neighborhoods, and the world.  The courses have a unique focus on empowering the Latino community of Chicago through social justice.

Students can expect to not only study in the classroom but also to complete an internship, preparing them for employment with real-world experience. For some students, this internship may even lead directly to employment.

The study of social work can lead to diverse employment opportunities, including:

  • Services for children, adolescents, families and older adults
  • Child Welfare
  • Mental Health
  • Criminal Justice
  • Addictions Treatment
  • Social Policy Planning
  • Community Development
  • Work with Veterans and Military families and more.

Bi-lingual social workers are in high demand in Chicago and across the country. Graduates of our program have worked in agencies such as Association House, Catholic Charities, Casa Central, La Casa Norte, The Department of Children and Family Services, Family Focus, Between Friends, Mujeres Latinas en Accion, the criminal justice system, Stroger Hospital, Enlace Chicago, Sarah’s Circle, SGA Youth and Family Services, to name a few.

An additional benefit of graduating from an accredited social work program is that students are eligible to become members of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). For more information on NASW, visit their website at .
